Bath remodel, backerboard smooth side or dimpled face out? Does it matter? We already have 1/2 put up ):?

We are using the brand “Hardibacker” and now that my hubby has 1/2 the room up he has realized there is a smooth side and a dimpled side. Do we have to take it all down?
We will be tiling walls with 18 in tiles.

Dimpled side up to put the tile on, it gives it more “texture” to hold the mastic. But if you already have some up I would keep it consistent in that area. It’s not that big a deal.

dimple side out so that the mud sticks to it, definitely the rough side out ‘ALL THE TIME’
