Home Depot has stick-on carpet “tiles” (or squares”….they are 12inches square and are easy to put down…

So many new products that are time saving out there.I would go by what your lifestyle is so its easier clean up and less stress.Kitchen, bath sheet vinyl is easiest and less worry about water spills.Carpet is always extra warmth in winter, but large rugs work well also.Tiles ,and carpet tiles may be somewhat cheaper to install.Enjoy your new home.

oooh, unless you are on a solid foundation, its usually not a great idea to install ceramic or porcelain tile.
most carpet is cheaper by the square foot, once you account for installation.
a great money-saver is laminate. it comes in wood colour, and also in a fake tile pattern. and you can install laminate yourself quite easily… unlike carpet, if you make a wrong cut you can either re-cut the piece or throw it out.
they are also making really nice linos that look a lot like tiles, too.
