How to remove construction adhesive off a bath tub?
Lala Girl
We moved into a ’40’s style home. The previous owners put plastic tirm molding on the tub (the kind you see in office buildings). We took the tirm off, but the adhesive stayed. We want to remodel but keep the tub if possible….
Does anyone know how to remove such adhesive off an old tub…or should we just invest in a new tub? Thanks!

Nail Polish remover (ACETONE) will work along with scraping with a razor blade. It shouldn’t affect the finish on the tub itself.

Try fingernail polish remover. That takes adhesive off of windows and tiles, it should work on porcelain.

“Goo Gone” is an excellent product. sometimes, WD40 works, too. Be patient, it could take some time. What ever you do, when working with these products, use excellent ventallation and don’t light any matches or candles until the smell has entirely dissapated. I would clso call a bathtub manufacturer or check their web sites for professional advise.Scraping it with a sharp object will damage the surface. Goo Gone and patience will win out.

Acetone (nail polish remover) may work but do not get it on plastic, only enamel.

try using “afta” you can find it at home depot stores nationwide. just apply on the left over adhesive, let stay for a couple of minutes and use a dull knife to scratch off.
if the tub is still good and will just need cleaning, dont buy a new one. but if you want to remodel, might as well replace the tub with a new one.
