Will I lower the resale value of my house if I get rid of the bath tub and install a shower unit instead?

I want to remodel the bathroom and never use the tub except to shower but I’m told a lot of people still insist on a tub. Is that true? Small house with only one bathroom.

Would a young family be your target buyers in the future? If so, you may want to leave the bathtub as it is difficult to bath an infant in the shower.

Definately, we’ve had the same problem in doing up our last two houses, small bathrooms. In our last house we put in a bath that has a corner at the feet end cut off to make for more space in the room. In our present house we’ve just done away with the separate shower unit and bath and instead installed a bath with a rounded end designed to have the shower above. Job almost finished, looks great and has created more space in the room.

If your aiming for the DINK (Double in come no kids)then out with the bath.
Not everyone likes them then again some do like a good soak so putting in a new bath with the shower above it is a great Idea we had one in a lovely apartment while on holidays sure was roomy

One bedroom home = no change in value
2 or more = decreased value

A realtor told me that a tub/shower is important for resale. If you’re not planning on selling the house, do what you wish. If you think you will, then keep a tub. I’m with you though; I am never in the tub.

I would say that the resale would be more appealing if the tub was in place.

depends on how long you are planning to stay in your house.
if years and years then make it comfortable for you and worry about the resale value when it comes time to sell.
If a few years only then I would keep the bath
