Does anyone have any information about research done on granite countertops harboring mold?

I have been searching for information to confirm or shoot down wheather or not granite countertops (natural stone) will harbor mold spores?

no because when your done with the install you seal the counter top and then you seal it about once every couple of months.

Granite is too dense to let mold get a toe hold. Marble might be the kind of stone you are thinking of. Our granite is so highly polished it is clear there are no pores for the mold.
Our granite is 10 years old, never been sealed and we have never had a problem with mold.

Granite may have mold spores in some of the cracks, but there is nothing in the granite itself that mold would use for a food source. Wash your granite with a Clorox solution, and then seal it. Should take care of the problem. If you don’t want to seal it, keep anything liquid off of the cracks, and still occasionally wash it with a Clorox solution.
